H-1B visa data reveals how much Uber pays engineers, project managers, Data Scientists and others in the US

Senior director, engineering at Uber can earn up to $360,000 annually as the ride hailing platform competes aggressively for top talent amid the ongoing AI boom, according to new federal work-visa data analysed by Business Insider. Uber’s compensation packages offered to software engineers, project managers, Data Scientists and others reflect the intense competition for skilled workers in artificial intelligence and related fields. As Uber ramps up hiring to create its vision of a “super app,” the company is offering six-figure salaries to attract top international talent across engineering, data science, and management roles.

Uber’s H-1B hiring surge

As reported by Business Insider, the H-1B visa data indicate that Uber filed to hire nearly 500 foreign workers under the H-1B visa program. This is a noticeable jump as the company filed for 350 foreign workers last year during the same period. The most sought-after roles include software engineers, data scientists, operations research analysts, product and project managers. The filings made by Uber to the US Department of Labor also include the base salary disclosures excluding bonuses, stock options and other perks.
