Hartland Music Festival will feature all kinds of music

HARTINGTON—This year’s Hartland Music and Arts Festival will feature a wide range of music to suit almost any musical taste. One group planning to appear on the Fairgrounds stage at the big event will be Big John Dickerson and the Blue Chamber.

HARTINGTON—Fair organizers were worried before the start of this year’s Cedar County Fair. Cedar County Ag Society members threw out the rule book this year and they weren’t quite sure how the public would react. “We took a pretty big gamble, not charging at the gate this year, said Ag Society member Allan Heine.

HARTINGTON— The Hartington Community Information Technology Committee is hoping area residents will clean out their closets for a good cause.
The group, which was formed a year ago at the request of Hartington Mayor Tom Noecker, will be holding an E Bay auction. Anyone who wants to donate items for the auction can drop them off at the Senior Citizen’s Center. Funds raised from the project will go for the Community Information Technology’s community improvement fund, the Hartington community library, the Junction Youth Center and Sr. Citizen’s Center.

HARTINGTON — There is a new face behind the bench at the Cedar County Courthouse.
William Binkard was recently sworn in as the new District 6 Judge for Cedar, Dixon, Dakota, Burt and Thurston counties.
Binkard, who has practiced law for 30 years was appointed June 17 by Gov. Dave Heineman to fill the vacancy on the bench. Binkard replaces Maurice Redmond, who resigned in March just prior to a hearing slated to decide Redmond’s judicial competency.

DODGE— The fingernails of Hartington fans were worn to a frazzle here last weekend. Hartington’s first-ever trip to the American Legion Junior State Baseball Tournament featured three real nail-biters. Hartington lost the first nail biter, 5-4, in its opening game against Shelton-Gibbon.

MENNO— Wynot won the District 6 baseball title to advance to the S.D. state tournament.
Wynot, 33-7, is looking to take another state crown. The Expos claimed the state title in 1999 to become the second Nebraska team to ever win the S.D. title. Hartington won in 1976.
