Haskoning appoints Matthijs van Renselaar as corporate director
Haskoning has appointed Matthijs van Renselaar as corporate director to lead its audit, risk and compliance team. He succeeds Mark Kokke, who has stepped down from his role.
CEO Marije Hulshof commented, “Matthijs brings solid expertise in internal audit and risk, combined with a pragmatic mindset and international experience. His extensive skills and drive, to contribute to enhancing society together, make Matthijs a great fit to lead the team.”
Matthijs van Renselaar joins Haskoning from Sweco AB, where he led the global internal audit function. He brings broad experience in financial, operational, and compliance audits, as well as risk management and internal control. He has worked for multiple listed companies and, over the past decade, in an international engineering environment – including PwC, where he spent seven years in the firm’s assurance team.
Worldwide, Haskoning is supporting clients with the energy transition, digitisation, climate change, and replacing ageing infrastructure in the built environment. Van Renselaar will support Haskoning in the execution of internal audits and the management of corporate risks. He will also help safeguard integrity, responsible business conduct, and privacy.
Van Renselaar said of his new role, “I’m excited to be part of Haskoning. It’s great to contribute to a culture where integrity and responsible business practices are truly embraced. I look forward to collaborating with colleagues across the organisation. My focus will be on improving operations, managing risks prudently, and supporting decisions that make a positive impact – for our company and for society.”
Formed in 2012 by the merger of Royal Haskoning and DHV, two Dutch professional services firms, the firm today has more than 6,000 professionals across offices in 30 countries, with several offices in the UK. The appointment of Van Renselaar comes at a time of change across the firm – which recently announced it would shorten its legacy name to simply Haskoning.
