NEET UG counselling 2022: NMC releases academic calendar for MBBS batch 2022-23

With the commencement of NEET counselling registrations two days ago, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has released the academic calendar for the MBBS batch going to be admitted this year 2022-2023. Apart from MBBS dates, the NMC has also issued guidelines for the conduct of sessions for the batch.

According to the academic schedule for 2022-2023, the total duration for the MBBS course is 66 months. The first and second-year MBBS batches last for 13 months each. During the first 13 months – starting from November 15, 2022, to December 15, 2023, the UG students will be taught Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry subjects.

India halts production of cough syrup at Maiden Pharma factory

Indian authorities have halted production of cough syrup at a factory of Maiden Pharmaceuticals, a state minister said on Wednesday, after a WHO report that the medicine may be linked to the deaths of dozens of children in Gambia.

The health minister in Haryana state, Anil Vij, told Reuters partner ANI that authorities inspected a Maiden factory near the town of Sonipat in the state and found 12 violations of good practices. Production was ordered stopped, Vij said.

AIIMS fee structure for MBBS, PG, nursing courses to be modelled in lines with IITs, IIMs, health ministry committee to examine feasibility

In an attempt to increase the revenue-generating potential of the Delhi-based All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), the fee structure of the premier medical institute is likely to witness a revision and it may now get modelled along the lines of IITs and IIMs.

Such a recommendation was made at the ‘Chintan Shivir’ of AIIMS held back in August 2022. The ‘shivir’ discussed several topics including the steps for improving the healthcare services at all the AIIMS and identifying an implementable model suitable for sustainable revenue generation to reduce the dependence on government funds.
