Helena-area football teams discuss upcoming season at IR media day

The Helena Independent Record invited five area high school football teams to the Lewis & Clark Library Thursday for the first-ever IR Media Day.

Helena Capital, Helena High, East Helena, Townsend and Jefferson were represented by a head coach and players.

Roughly a half-dozen media members from Helena and surrounding areas took turns offering preseason questions, sharing a smile and learning more about local gridiron squads ahead of the season two weeks away.

Helena Capital Bruins:

East Helena Vigilantes:

East Helena Vigilantes head football coach Tyler Murray and players Declan Turner, Hagen Paddock and Ty Sebestyen answer preseason questions during a media scrum at the Lewis & Clark Library Thursday, Aug. 14, 2025, as part of the first-ever Helena Independent Record High School Football Media Day. The Vigilantes made their first-ever playoff appearance in 2024 and enter Year 5 as a varsity program.


Jefferson Panthers:

Jefferson is coming off an 8-3 campaign that concluded with a Class B Quarterfinal loss to Florence-Carlton.

Townsend Bulldogs:

Helena High finished 2024 with a 5-6 record after falling in the Class AA Quarterfinal to Bozeman Gallatin.
