The Malayalam film, Perumani, has made its OTT debut after a year of its theatrical release. The satirical film, starring Vinay Forrt, Lukman Avaran and Sunny Wayne in the lead roles, is now streaming on Saina Play.

Despite a lacklustre big-screen run, the film, which debuted in theatres in May of last year, received plaudits for its distinctive storytelling form and eccentric performances. It was previously stated that Saina Play had purchased Perumani’s digital rights. The platform did not provide a specific release date. However, it was recently confirmed that the comedy drama will be available from this week. After the OTT release, Perumani is anticipated to receive the appreciation and attention it deserves from moviegoers.

Other recent Malayalam films to debut on Saina Play include Tovino Thomas’ Nadikar and Aju Varghese-starrer Sthanarthi Sreekuttan. Both these movies are also streaming in multiple languages, such as Tamil and Telugu, apart from Malayalam, on the same site. Dhyan Sreenivasan’s ID: The Fake and Basil Joseph’s Madhuram Jeevamruthabindu are among the upcoming releases on this OTT platform. This week also saw the digital debut of Soothravakyam, Dheeran and Santhamee Rathriyil.

A mysterious figure arrives and keeps showing up at the houses and other places of the locals while the fictional town of Perumani gets ready for a wedding. He was soon viewed as a spiritual intervention by some of the villagers. However, the film’s primary focus is on the implications of his enigmatic presence for the community, its people, and the impending marriage. As per OTTplay’s review, the movie is noteworthy for keeping the mood light-hearted even when the situation becomes serious.

Amal Rajdev, Franco Francis, Radhika Radhakrishnan, Vijilesh Karayad, Navas Vallikkunnu, and Deepa Thomas play supporting roles in the movie, which marked Maju’s directorial debut. In addition, he wrote the satirical drama’s script. Perumani’s technical crew consists of music composer Gopi Sunder, editor Joel Kavi, and State Award-winning cameraman Manesh Madhavan.
