Higley board approves travel for educators to present at national science conference
Three Higley Unified School District educators will represent the district at a national science conference in November, despite objections from two governing board members.
The board voted Aug. 12 to approve a $7,078.50 travel voucher for content specialists Kimberly Morton, Wendy Towery-Stove and Sarah Wenger to attend the National Science Teaching Association’s 2025 national conference in Minneapolis, scheduled for Nov. 12-15. Board members Anna Van Hoek and Sara Jarman voted against the measure.
The three educators have been selected as presenters at the conference, where they will share strategies for integrating their expertise in science, literacy and math. Their sessions include:
