Global hospitality giant Hilton is set to introduce its luxury brand, LXR Hotels & Resorts, to the Indian market with a flagship property in Bengaluru by 2026.
As part of an aggressive growth strategy, Hilton plans to open 29 new hotels across India over the next five years, aiming to double its presence in the country.
“India is a critical part of Hilton’s global growth strategy. As one of the world’s largest and most dynamic markets, it represents a major opportunity across brand segments — from luxury to premium economy,” said Chris Nassetta, President & CEO of Hilton.
At its first-ever brand showcase in India, held on Tuesday, Hilton presented 10 of its global brands. These included established names like Conrad Hotels & Resorts and DoubleTree by Hilton, as well as upcoming entries like Waldorf Astoria, LXR Hotels & Resorts, the lifestyle-oriented Curio Collection, and its economy-focused Spark brand.
DoubleTree by Hilton remains the group’s largest brand in India, with 11 hotels currently operational and 12 more under development in cities such as Siliguri, Bhopal, Kochi, and Chandigarh.
Hilton will also debut its first Spark property in India in 2025, joining a global network of over 130 Spark hotels. Meanwhile, new Hampton by Hilton hotels are in the pipeline across Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Bihar.
“We have 130 (Spark hotels) in the world. By the end of the year, we’ll probably have hopefully 250 Sparks. We only launched it last year. It’s moving at a rapid pace,”
Nassetta told reporters at the event. He said that India may be a small market right now for Hilton in terms of the number of hotels in the country but there is a huge growth opportunity.
To tap into the growing demand for premium economy accommodations in the country, Hilton announced plans in November last year to launch 150 hotels under its new brand, Spark by Hilton, with room rates ranging between Rs 4,000 and Rs 6,000.
“India is a huge nugget of opportunity,” said Clarence Tan, Senior Vice-President of Development, Asia Pacific at Hilton. “Domestic tourism has surged, supported by improved infrastructure, new highways, privatised airports, and commercial developments.”
Tan also highlighted growing inbound travel driven by business tourism and supportive policies like e-visas. While India remains an emerging market for Hilton, the company is already a dominant player in the Asia-Pacific, with over 800 hotels in China alone.
Globally, Hilton operates more than 8,600 properties across 139 countries and territories, offering nearly 1.3 million rooms. In India, the company currently has 32 operational hotels with more than 4,000 rooms.
