The Honda 0 Series electric SUV will make its India debut next year, Autocar Professional can confirm. First unveiled in prototype form at CES 2025 in Las Vegas, the futuristic SUV is now making its Asia debut at the ongoing Japan Mobility Show 2025. The production version is expected to retain much of the concept’s sleek and aerodynamic styling, previewing Honda’s bold new design direction for its global EV portfolio.

For India, the 0 Series SUV will be imported as a completely built unit (CBU) and will be positioned at the premium end of the market. It will mark Honda’s first electric SUV for India, and will later be joined by a smaller, made-in-India EV, called the Honda 0 α (Alpha) SUV, which is scheduled for launch in 2027.

The Honda 0 Series SUV concept on display in Tokyo presents a minimalist yet futuristic aesthetic. Its design is guided by the brand’s “Thin, Light, and Wise” philosophy, which focuses on reducing vehicle weight, improving aerodynamics, and optimising efficiency. The SUV’s smooth surfacing and lack of sharp creases not only improve airflow but also lend it a clean, sculpted appearance. A large glasshouse area enhances visibility and creates an airy cabin, while the protruding front and rear bumpers add a layered effect to the overall profile. The U-shaped LED tail-light bar gives the SUV a distinctive identity, and the wide stance reinforces its premium and planted appeal.

A camouflaged prototype of the Honda 0 series SUV was recently shown at a Red Bull event in Japan.

Honda has confirmed that all models under the 0 Series banner will be born-electric vehicles built on an all-new dedicated EV architecture. This global platform will underpin a family of new battery-powered models over the coming years.

Equally significant is the focus on software. The 0 Series EVs will be software-defined vehicles (SDVs), with Honda developing a brand-new proprietary operating system called ASIMO OS. This next-generation system will serve as the central brain for the vehicle, integrating multiple ECUs, managing advanced driver-assistance features, and running in-car infotainment. It will also enable over-the-air (OTA) updates, ensuring that system functions and features evolve over time.

While Honda has yet to share technical specifications or dimensions, the concept’s proportions suggest it will be comparable in size to models like the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5. Expect a long wheelbase, short overhangs, and a flat floor to maximise cabin space — hallmarks of a purpose-built electric platform.

The production-spec 0 Series SUV is likely to carry over its aerodynamic silhouette, minimalist front end, and distinctive LED lighting signatures. The focus will be on creating a high-tech, premium EV that demonstrates Honda’s global electric ambitions. When it arrives, the Honda 0 Series SUV will serve as a halo product for the brand in India, showcasing its design, EV technology, and software innovation. Pricing remains under wraps, but given its CBU import status and positioning, the SUV will likely command a premium price tag north of Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it firmly in competition with the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5.
