As Rajinikanth’s movie had a massive worldwide release, this figure is sure to go up. On day 2, the film has already made Rs 2.32 crore, taking the total to Rs 67.32 crore.

In terms of occupancy, Chennai registered the highest with 97.75 per cent followed by Bengaluru at 89.25 per cent.

Rajinikanth’s action-packed film clashed with the film Hindi War 2, starring Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan and Telugu star Jr NTR. However, War 2 was not much of a competition as it raked in only Rs 52.5 crore. Though a good opening day collection, Ayan Mukerji-directorial War 2 fell short of Coolie by nearly Rs 13 crore.

So far for Day 2, War 2 has only made Rs 0.72 crore, taking the total to Rs 53.22 crore.

However, it remains to be seen how the films will perform at the ticket window in the coming days as both movies did not win much favourable reviews. But given the long Independence weekend, viewers are likely to visit cinemas to catch all the action.
