Hridayapoorvam is a warm-hearted drama about a heart transplant survivor finding new bonds with his donor’s family. With Mohanlal in fine form, it’s a simple yet emotional family entertainer.

Hyderabad: Sathyan Anthikad’s Hridayapoorvam is a simple, heartfelt film that stays true to his trademark style. It is not a big, ambitious drama, but a warm story about people, emotions, and second chances.

The film follows Sandeep Balakrishnan (Mohanlal), a middle-aged man who runs a cloud kitchen in Kochi. After a heart transplant, he is visited by Haritha (Malavika Mohanan), daughter of the heart donor, Colonel Ravi. She invites him to Pune for her engagement. Things take a turn when the engagement is called off, and Sandeep along with his caretaker Jerry (Sangeeth Prathap) end up staying with Haritha and her mother Devika (Sangita Madhavan Nair). What starts as an awkward situation slowly grows into a bond of love, trust, and healing.

Hridayapoorvam works best in its lighter moments. The film does not rely on big twists or high drama. Instead, it wins you over with easy storytelling and gentle humour. Even when some subplots feel unnecessary, the core emotion of the film keeps you watching. The idea of the heart donor’s presence being felt in every interaction adds an interesting layer to the story.

Mohanlal delivers a fine performance, portraying Sandeep with warmth and ease. His chemistry with Sangeeth Prathap is the film’s biggest strength, bringing both humour and depth. Malavika Mohanan plays her part with sincerity, while Sangita stands out as a mother who longs to be understood. Supporting actors like Siddique and Baburaj add flavour, though some of their scenes feel stretched.

Sathyan Anthikad once again proves that he knows how to make family dramas that feel familiar yet comforting. The direction is simple, the writing is light, and though the songs don’t add much, the emotions carry the film through.

Hridayapoorvam is not a perfect film, but it is an honest and feel-good drama that speaks straight from the heart. It is now streaming on JioHotstar in Malayalam, Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, and Kannada.
