Director Mani Ratnam, who is currently gearing up for the release of his next film Thug Life, is a celebrated filmmaker and has given number of iconic films in Tamil cinema. Some of them being Nayakan, Iruvar, Thalapathi, Yuva , and Mouna Ragam. But in a recent interview, Mani Ratnam spoke about that one film, the failure of which, did not do well with the filmmaker. Mani Ratnam reveals one film which made him feel down after it didn’t do well

In a recent interview with Galatta Plus, Mani Ratnam was asked how he takes when his films don’t do well and if has a “zen” mode. The Roja filmmaker said, “If you are willing to accept the praise that they give when it does well, you should accept the brickbats when it doesn’t do well. So you need to learn from it and move on.”

Mani Ratnam also went on to speak about that one film which bothered him when it didn’t do well, and that was the 1990 film Anjali . “What possibly bothered me was Anjali. I didn’t think…it was a special film, it was about a child and thought I found a way to bring it into mainstream. So that was the only think… I felt down after the film did not do well. I was not even here and I got to hear about it and felt bad.”
