‘I know on day one of shoot when a film would flop’
Comedian-turned-actor Santhanam’s next release is DD Next Level, a horror comedy film which serves as the fourth part in the Dhilluku Dhuddu franchise. The film is set to release on Friday in theatres, and will stream on OTTplay Premium after its theatrical run. In a recent interview, Santhanam talked about how he gets to know that a film might become a flop even before it releases. The actor-comedian also gave an example of a 2013 film featuring Karthi. Read on to know which film he is talking about.
Santhanam talks about All in All Azhagu Raja failure
Santhanam and director Rajesh’s combination has worked like magic onscreen, with films like Siva Manasula Sakthi, Oru Kal Oru Kannadi and Boss Engira Bhaskaran. However, when the duo paired up for the fourth time with the 2013 film All in All Azhagu Raja, the film went on to become a box office failure.
Speaking about this, Santhanam said in a recent interview, “The day one I read the bound script and went for the shoot on the first day, I knew the film would become a flop. I even told Rajesh about this. Because the main subject character is Kareena Chopra, and it requires a make-up like Avvai Shanmughi. Audience should know that they have taken efforts. But here it was normal makeup. I had conveyed it to both Rajesh and production, but they did not accept. Kareena Chopra was not just a comical character, but the main character. I come to know on day one of the shoot when a film would flop. Sometimes, things go beyond that, and we cannot do anything.”
