Malaysia is making big moves in 2025.

This year, we made a bold US$250 million investment to acquire advanced semiconductor chip design blueprints from UK-based firm Arm Holdings and move upwards the semiconductor value chain.

Similarly, Tenaga Nasional also committed RM43 billion to upgrade the national grid infrastructure to meet Malaysia’s ambitions in artificial intelligence (AI), data centres, and battery energy storage systems.

It’s in this climate of rapid growth and global positioning that the annual I-Nation Global Summit 2025 (I-Nation 2025) returns in October. Hosted by MRANTI under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), the summit is an innovation platform that leads the next wave of technology.

For startup founders, researchers, and investors, I-Nation 2025 offers more than just panels and keynotes—it’s a launchpad to forge collaborations, secure funding, and explore global markets.

Shifting beyond national priorities, this year’s I-Nation focuses on high-impact, scalable solutions to address global challenges and opportunities. Here’s what you can expect to find.

From national focus to global impact

Held on October 7 to 8 at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur, I-Nation 2025 is geared towards positioning Malaysia as a global launchpad for innovation.

At the heart of this year’s summit are four innovation pillars designed to align with both the nation’s needs and global megatrends.

1. Artificial Intelligence (AI)

A catalyst for more industrial transformation, AI is set to drive productivity, smart manufacturing, and autonomous systems globally.

Beyond being a tool for efficiency, AI also represents Malaysia’s ambition to position itself as a leader in national tech development. Under the National AI Roadmap 2021-2025, the nation aims to establish itself among the top 20 AI economies by 2030, with GDP contributions exceeding RM60 billion.

I-Nation 2025 will be a platform to accelerate this ambition, showcasing AI solutions that are ready to move from pilot stage into global markets.

2. Healthtech and Life Sciences

Through I-Nation 2025, MRANTI aims to further support innovations in diagnostics, care delivery, mental health, and biotech scaling.

These advancements will ideally fuel much-needed breakthroughs in the medical field, such as treatments for cancer and heart diseases. Malaysia is already making waves in the healthtech and life sciences industry.

It was reported by Matrade’s Deputy CEO that the nation recorded RM61.31 billion in healthcare-related exports in 2024, with medical devices contributing 76% of that. This, along with other government and private-backed initiatives like KL Wellness City, positions Malaysia to become a major healthcare hub.

3. Agritech and Food Security

As climate change becomes a more critical issue, it’s imperative that Malaysia strengthens our agricultural resilience to overcome global supply pressures.

Malaysia has climbed to 41st place in the Global Food Security Index in 2022 (its latest edition), reflecting commendable progress. However, the nation’s agricultural sector still depends heavily on imports to meet local demands.

This is where I-Nation 2025 comes in, highlighting how climate-smart, tech-enabled, and export-ready farming solutions can reduce reliance on imports while positioning Malaysia as a food security leader.

4. Going Global

Tying all these together is the final pillar to support the globalisation of local innovations.

It focuses on deeptech commercialisation, investment readiness, and policy frameworks, while building global partnerships with other nations. With this, Malaysian innovations can move beyond solving local issues and grow into solutions for international markets.

Why you should be there

Whether you’re a founder seeking investors, a researcher looking for collaborators, or a policymaker keen to explore innovation pathways, I-Nation 2025 is designed as a launchpad for real opportunities.

Over two days, the summit will feature both local and international speakers who are experts in their respective fields, offering insights that cut across technology, policy, and commercialisation. Participants can expect four keynote sessions that frame the big picture, alongside three fireside chats and six dialogue segments that dive into practical solutions.

But more than just talks, the real value lies in the connections you’ll build. Through business matching sessions, pitching showcases, and an IP marketplace, you’ll be able to meet potential partners, secure collaborations, and explore commercialisation pathways.

Some notable talks that participants should not miss include:

  • “Malaysia’s AI advantage: Building Southeast Asia’s next tech superpower”
  • “Innovation: The key to affordable healthcare, or just another layer of cost?”
  • “Cultivating the future: Seeds and seedlings production in the South and Southeast Asia”

If you’ve been to I-Nation 2024, you’ll notice that this year’s summit takes on a new format as it’s now part of a larger four-day showcase—the National Innovation and Commercialisation Expo (NICE 2025), MOSTI’s flagship programme.

Instead of hosting separate standalone satellite events, I-Nation 2025 will be integrated into NICE 2025.

This offers significant advantages that catapults I-Nation’s visibility and impact on the international stage, while also amplifying MRANTI’s role in driving Malaysia’s global innovation ambitions.

With an expected turnout of 12,000 participants, I-Nation 2025 is where Malaysia’s most ambitious innovators, investors, and ecosystem builders will be under one roof. Admission is free, but interested individuals are encouraged to secure your spot by registering here.
