IIM Bangalore Climbs to 28th Globally, Tops India in FT MiM 2025 Rankings
IIM Bangalore Rank Globally: The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore has reached a big moment this year after climbing high in the Financial Times Masters in Management rankings. IIMB now stands at number 28 in the world and number one in India, which makes it a proud moment for the institute. The jump feels huge because last year the programme was at 41st place, and now it moved up by thirteen spots. It is also the only Indian business school that managed to come inside the top 30 worldwide.
The programme that got this global recognition is the two-year Post Graduate Programme in Management, known as PGP.
Strong performance across many areas
The Financial Times rankings look at 19 different factors, and these are measured using both alumni experiences and information given by the institute. Alumni feedback counts for more than half of the marks, while the rest comes from data the school provides. IIM Bangalore did well in many of the important areas such as career growth, student diversity, global reach and also sustainability efforts.

One of the biggest highlights that stood out was the rise in salaries of alumni. On average, the alumni salary went up by 47% which is the highest jump among India’s top three management schools. This also placed IIMB second in India when it comes to weighted salaries. The numbers clearly show that the school has very good industry connections and that its students find strong jobs around the world.
The institute has also taken solid steps in teaching sustainability and subjects related to environment, society and governance. Its ranking in carbon footprint improved in a big way, moving from 73rd place last year to 13th this year. This change comes because of IIMB’s new projects to cut down emissions and also because of its push to add more lessons on sustainability in the curriculum.
Diversity and inclusion
The institute has also strengthened its focus on diversity and inclusion. Over the past year:
- Female faculty representation increased from 22% to 25%
- Female student enrolment rose from 33% to 40%
- Women on the governing board grew from 30% to 40%

Growing global presence
IIM Bangalore also saw more international students joining its programme, which shows that its name is spreading across countries and more students are trusting the institute for management studies. The school is now seen not only as a top Indian institute but also as one with global strength.
Speaking about this achievement, Professor U Dinesh Kumar, Director In-charge of IIMB, said, “We benchmark ourselves with the best institutions worldwide. This ranking is proof of IIMB’s impact not just in India, but globally. Our aim is to develop leaders who can handle complex global challenges.” His words reflect the institute’s goal to prepare future leaders for the fast-changing world.
In the worldwide list, the University of St Gallen in Switzerland kept its first place, followed by HEC Paris, Insead, and ESCP. Even in such a strong global competition, IIM Bangalore’s place in the top 30 has made it stand tall and proud for India.
