India Bound 7 Seater Duster Sibling Crash Tested! Would Its Safety Score Deter Its Indian Sales? News24 –
Safety features of the 7 Seater Dacia Duster would include 6 airbags, seatbelt pretensioners, Seatbelt load limiters, front passenger airbag cutoff switch, seatbelt reminder and ISOFIX child anchorages. Other safety systems relevant from a crash test perspective include AEB Vulnerable Road Users, AEB Motorcyclists, Speed Assistant, Lane Assist system and Driver Fatigue and / distraction detection.
Adult Occupant And Child Occupant Safety
In the Adult Occupant assessment, the Duster was able to score 27.7 points that equate to about 69%. The tests conducted included a frontal offset test. Even after the collision, the Duster was able to offer both the front passengers protection. The analysis team found that the vehicle was able to offer weak protection to the driver’s chest. In the full width rigid barrier test, the protection to the chest of the driver and rear passenger was found to be marginal as well.
The tests revealed that all the critical areas of the car were well protected and offered the users protection under rear end collision, and side pole impact test. The rear seat whiplash protection was also found to be satisfactory. Dacia’s advanced e-Call system calibrated to notify emergencies and services in case of a crash was working as intended. Dacia has thought of all eventualities while designing the vehicle and hence its gates were able to open even in the event of full on submergence.
Child Protection And Safety
For The Child Occupant safety test the vehicle was able to score a 85%. In the full frontal test both the front child dummies had good protection to all critical body areas. Every safety feature was found to be functioning as intended, but since the Duster based 7 seater lacked a dedicated child presence detection system it lost a few points. The Autonomous emergency braking system teh 7setaer duster has been equipped with was functioning as well for both road use and other vehicles. However, there is no system to alert an approaching cyclist when the car door is opened suddenly.
The AEB system and seatbelt reminder system performed as per expectations. Other systems such as driver fatigue and lane support system and speed assistance were found to be working as intended.
