China’s position
Wang Yi said exchanges between the two countries were gradually being restored and called on both sides to see each other as partners, not as rivals or threats. He also urged India and China, as major developing nations, to set an example of unity for others.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said in Beijing that the talks have helped in addressing boundary issues. She pointed out that during the 23rd round of talks last year between Ajit Doval and Wang Yi, both sides had agreed on several points, which are now being put into action. These include working on defining the border, improving management, setting up mechanisms, and encouraging cross-border exchanges.
She noted that the upcoming meeting between Wang Yi and Doval would build on those earlier agreements and continue detailed discussions with India to maintain peace and stability along the border. Mao also said that China hopes to use these agreements to deepen political trust, increase cooperation, manage differences in a constructive way, and strengthen overall relations with India.
