India Leads Global Initiatives for Disaster Risk Reduction at UN Forum, ET Government
Dr Mishra held productive discussions with Stine Renate Håheim, Deputy Minister for International Development, Norway.GENEVA: Dr PK Mishra, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister of India, reaffirmed India’s strong commitment to global disaster risk reduction efforts during his participation at the 8th Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GPDRR) held in Geneva on June 3.
Representing India at the high-level forum organized by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), Dr Mishra emphasized the country’s proactive, partnership-driven approach to disaster preparedness and resilience-building. He noted that India’s disaster management strategies are rooted in community engagement, early warning systems, and capacity building, aligning with global best practices.
During the visit, Dr Mishra held productive discussions with Stine Renate Håheim, Deputy Minister for International Development, Norway, focusing on the critical role of international cooperation and knowledge exchange in enhancing disaster resilience across regions.
Speaking at the platform’s opening session, Dr Mishra reinforced India’s commitment to building a safer and more resilient future, while sharing India’s experiences in implementing scalable, technology-enabled solutions for disaster risk reduction. His participation further underscores India’s leadership role in advancing global resilience agendas through South-South cooperation, climate adaptation efforts, and sustainable development frameworks.
