India poised to lead global supply chains: Anand Mahindra – Express Mobility News
India has the potential to significantly bolster its economic stature and establish itself as a pivotal player in the global supply chain, according to Mahindra Group chairman Anand Mahindra.
Emphasising that “India is well-equipped to thrive independently,” he highlighted the country’s strategic advantages amidst the shifting dynamics of global alliances.
In his New Year address to the group’s employees, Mahindra remarked on the increasingly transactional nature of international relations, which are being shaped by national interests and displays of power.

“The past few years have been marked by upheavals, transformations, and uncertainties, and 2024 was no different,” he noted. “We are witnessing the emergence of a new world order where interdependencies and the concept of a flat world may soon be relics of the past”.
Reiterating India’s resilience, Mahindra said, “India is no longer a lightweight in global affairs. It can assert its military strength and takes pride in its political stability, underpinned by a vibrant democracy that showcased its efficiency during recent central elections, where over a billion people voted seamlessly and peacefully”.
He stressed that by leveraging opportunities from shifting global partnerships, India could become a cornerstone of the global supply chain.
Mahindra expressed confidence in India’s relative insulation from unpredictable global trends, stating, “We are less vulnerable to the whims of global uncertainties than many other nations”. He also conveyed optimism for the Mahindra Group’s prospects, saying, “Our Group stands poised to seize growth opportunities, both within India and globally”.
Acknowledging the New Year as a time for hope, Mahindra reflected on the Cambridge Dictionary’s choice of “Manifest” as the word of the year, interpreting it not just as “to demonstrate” but as a call to actively envision and achieve aspirations. “This underscores a belief that, despite the uncertainties of life, people retain the conviction to manifest a better future,” he observed.
Looking back on 2024, Mahindra celebrated the Group’s accomplishments, noting that it had become the 11th most valuable automobile manufacturer globally, surpassing several competitors and former technology collaborators. He also praised the success of other Group businesses, including Mahindra Susten, Mahindra Lifespace, and Mahindra Finance.
He highlighted the automotive division’s landmark achievements, particularly the launch of two premium electric vehicles, which he said had “electrified Indian customers, both figuratively and literally”. Mahindra added, “The overwhelmingly positive response to these EVs has exceeded even our highest expectations”.
