India s First Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Launching

India is preparing to launch its first semi high-speed Vande Bharat Sleeper train, set to operate on the Delhi-Patna route. prime minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate this innovative service next month, marking a significant advancement in rail travel.

The Vande Bharat Sleeper train is equipped with modern amenities, including premium catering and improved passenger comfort, and is designed for long-distance overnight travel, with a maximum speed of 160 km/h. Unlike the existing chair-car versions, this sleeper variant caters to passengers looking for comfort during extended journeys.

Railway officials have announced that the fare for the new service will be approximately 10-15% higher than that of the Rajdhani Express, reflecting its enhanced features and services. A dynamic fare system will be implemented, similar to other premium train services. Union Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw is scheduled to provide more details regarding the route, pricing, and onboard facilities in a media briefing next week.

While the final route has yet to be officially confirmed, sources suggest that, considering the upcoming bihar Assembly elections, the first service will likely connect delhi and Patna, offering significant benefits to countless travelers, especially during the busy festive season.

In addition to the Vande Bharat Sleeper, bihar will also receive 12,000 special trains during the diwali and Chhath festival period to accommodate the surge in passenger demand. Bihar’s deputy chief minister Samrat Choudhary expressed gratitude to PM Modi and minister Vaishnaw for these additional services, which aim to facilitate convenient travel for migrants returning home.

The initiative also includes a pilot project for round-trip travel packages, aimed at making festive journeys more affordable and less stressful for families, thereby enhancing the travel experience during the festive rush.
