Indian dance and music concert held in Ashgabat

A bright concert of Indian dances and music took place at the “Watan” cinema and concert center, with a full house. The audience’s immersion into the unique culture of India began right from the lobby, where a mini-exhibition with posters of famous Bollywood films was displayed. Wishing to support the atmosphere of Indian culture, many guests came dressed in traditional sarees and Punjabi outfits.

Welcoming the concert guests, Mrs. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat, the Ambassador of India, noted that the event, organized by the Embassy of India in Turkmenistan together with the Ministry of Culture, became a symbol of the strong friendly and brotherly relations between the two countries, especially in the context of the International Year of Peace and Trust proclaimed in Turkmenistan. One of the honorary guests of the evening was Myahri Byashimova, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

A famous dance troupe from India, led by Sukhvinder Singh, presented to the audience the rich and diverse musical and dance art of India. The concert began with the traditional dance “Ganesh Vandana,” dedicated to the deity Ganesha. The audience enthusiastically received every performance, especially warmly welcoming the performances of Mr. Vinit, who sang songs by famous Bollywood artists, including Shah Rukh Khan and the unforgettable hit “I Am A Disco Dancer.”

Bright costumes, enchanting melodies of Indian musical instruments, and fiery dances created an unforgettable spectacle associated with vibrant films, unique cuisine, colorful festivals, and the rich culture of India.

Immediately after their successful performance in Ashgabat, the Indian dance group will head to the National Tourist Zone “Avaza.” There, from June 2 to 7, the troupe will participate in the International Dance and Folklore Festival “Avaza – Land of Friendship,” which will be a wonderful continuation of cultural exchange.
