Indian Hotels Company partners with Goa for India’s largest hospitality skilling centre
Goa is set to host India’s largest hospitality skilling centre, following a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) and the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Goa. The initiative aims to boost employment opportunities in the state’s thriving tourism sector.
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Goa’s Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant, along with senior government officials, on Wednesday.
“Goa is a leading leisure destination, and IHCL’s initiative will create new employment avenues for the youth,” said Sawant. “This aligns with our vision for sustainable tourism growth.”
IHCL’s Managing Director and CEO, Puneet Chhatwal, highlighted the company’s commitment to Goa’s hospitality landscape, stating that the skilling centre will “bridge the employability gap and equip a skilled workforce to support the state’s vibrant travel and tourism industry.”
The centre will offer industry-specific training in front office management, housekeeping, food production, and food and beverage services. It will also include internships to provide hands-on corporate experience.
The initiative falls under IHCL’s ESG+ framework, Paathya, which supports workforce development. With 47 existing skilling centres, the company continues to invest in talent to strengthen the hospitality sector.
IHCL operates several renowned hotels, including Taj, known for its luxury; SeleQtions, a curated collection of distinctive hotels; Vivanta, offering sophisticated upscale experiences; and Ginger, pioneering the lean luxe segment.
