India’s most educated village: More than 70% of India’s population lives in villages, where people rely on agriculture. Some villages are very large, while there are also smaller villages in terms of area and population. According to the 2011 census, there are about 628,221 villages in India. However, the population is continuously increasing.
Today we are going to introduce you to a village that is not only the most educated in the country but also in Asia. About 80% of the members in the households here are educated officers. This village’s name is also recorded in the Limca Book of Records.
Dhorra Mafi Village is located in the Jawan block of Aligarh district in Uttar Pradesh. Dhorra Mafi is considered the most educated village in all of Asia. Dhorra Mafi was declared the ‘Most Literate Village’ and entered the ‘Limca Book of Records’ in 2002. The recognition was more significant as Dhorra Mafi is situated in one of the largest north Indian state, Uttar Pradesh, which ranks eighth lowest in country’s literacy count.
Dhorra Mafi Village has more than 14000 households, concrete houses, 24-hour supply of electricity and water, and several English medium schools and colleges.
The people here lead a luxurious lifestyle. Dependence on agriculture is low, as most people are employed in jobs. According to media reports, the population of this village is around 11,000, with over 90% of them being educated. Not only that, but they hold significant positions in government across the country. People from this village have become doctors, engineers, scientists, professors, and IAS officers.
People live together in this village and every woman and every man is equal. Everyone has an equal share in all activities. Here, people from all communities live together. The local culture here is quite different from all other villages, which makes it incredibly beautiful.
It had been a collective effort of villagers and the Gram Panchayat which worked hard to achieve the literacy rate of around 80 percent, when in 2002 rural literacy rate of the country was just 73.5 %. Dhorra Mafi continues to push for achieving 100 percent literacy.
