India’s plastics export touches $11.5 billion in 2023-24

The Plastics Export Promotion Council (PLEXCONCIL) has said that India’s plastics exports have grown from $15.5 million in 1955-56 to over $11.5 billion in 2023-24. PLEXCONCIL was established on July 15, 1955, by the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

A media statement said this success reflects India’s robust export infrastructure, innovation capacity, and adaptability in meeting evolving global demand.

PLEXCONCIL remains committed to addressing future challenges, including the global shift toward sustainability. By encouraging innovation and eco-friendly manufacturing practices, the council aims to empower Indian exporters to meet environmental standards while seizing new opportunities, it said.

Focus on growth

Quoting Vikram Bhadauria, Chairman of PLEXCONCIL, the statement said, “Over the past 70 years, PLEXCONCIL has been at the forefront of championing India’s plastics export industry helping it evolve from humble beginnings to a global powerhouse.
