Indigenous Music & Arts Festival celebrates culture at Ganondagan
Victor, N.Y. — The Indigenous Music & Arts Festival continues for its second day at the Ganondagan Seneca Art and Culture Center.
The festival, a highlight of the summer season, features a vibrant lineup of music, dance, and cultural activities.
Headlining this year’s festival are Derek Miller and Gary Farmer, who bring their signature blues energy to the stage each day at 4 p.m.
The Indigenous Spirit Dancers also return, showcasing the sounds and sights of Haudenosaunee social dancing.
This year, a delegation from the Myaamiaki (Miami Tribe of Oklahoma) joins the festival, collaborating with Haudenosaunee artists in presentations on the main stage at 2 p.m. each day.
“We also have Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga and Oneida demonstrators who are here creating work on-site and have brought in things that they are still maintaining, our traditional arts,” said Peter Jemison, master of ceremonies for the Indigenous Music & Arts Festival.
Festival-goers can explore guided trail walks, engage in creative activities at the Family Discovery Tent with Flower City Arts Center, and shop for unique pieces by Indigenous artisans at the Art Market.
Live art and cultural demonstrations are available in the All Our Relations Tent, and visitors can learn about Wampum and Haudenosaunee history and culture at the Seneca Art & Culture Center.
Additionally, attendees can experience 17th-century life by visiting the Seneca Bark Longhouse.
The festival runs through 6 p.m. Admission is free, though donations are welcome.
