IndiGo to resume operations on suspended routes from May 15 amid easing India-Pakistan tensions – Airlines/Aviation News

IndiGo Airlines announced on Wednesday that it will resume all flight operations from Thursday, May 15, following recent disruptions caused by escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. The airline’s decision comes just a day after Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu convened a high-level meeting with airline representatives and civil aviation officials to address the impact of airspace restrictions and airport closures on flight schedules.

Airports affected by NOTAMs to return to normal

During the meeting, airlines were directed to resume regular operations at all 32 airports impacted by the Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) issued in the wake of cross-border military activities. These NOTAMs, which temporarily restricted operations in northern India, had led to widespread flight delays and cancellations, affecting thousands of travellers.

In an official statement, IndiGo said, “Starting 15 May 2025, we are resuming our flight operations across routes that were temporarily suspended in view of recent developments in the northern region of the country. Some of these flights have already operated today, and more are progressively being restored.”

The airline also emphasised the importance of staying informed, urging passengers to check their flight status on the official IndiGo website or mobile app prior to departure. “Timely updates will be shared across all official channels. We deeply appreciate your patience and trust, and look forward to welcoming you on board,” IndiGo posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Aviation industry returning to normalcy

The restoration of flight operations marks a step toward normalization following a tense period marked by cross-border drone and missile activity. The diplomatic and military situation had led to heightened alertness in northern India, prompting temporary suspensions of air travel in affected zones.

Passengers booked to travel with IndiGo in the coming days are advised to regularly monitor their flight status for any changes.
