SIBU (March 23): Educators must keep pace with time to embrace innovation and better equip themselves to meet the teaching demands of the new era, Temenggong Dato Vincent Lau Lee Ming said.

He said the world is gripped with rapid advancement in technology that has continuously transformed the educational landscape.

From artificial intelligence (AI) and big data to virtual reality and smart campus development, he said technology is not only reshaping classrooms but also influencing the teaching methods, learning models and education management.

He said all these will play crucial roles in helping students to acquire the necessary skills needed for the future.

“Educators must therefore be willing to innovate to better adapt to the new era’s teaching needs,” he added.

Lau was speaking at the opening of the 2025 Malaysian National-Type Chinese Secondary School Principal’s Education Seminar cum the 32nd annual general meeting held here Friday night.

A total of 120 principals and vice-principals from 81 national-type Chinese secondary schools across Malaysia, along with numerous education experts, attended the seminar.

Lau said the principals and education elites are not only knowledge transmitters but also guides for student’s growth.

In this rapidly evolving era, he said they must possess forward-thinking mindsets, actively embrace technological changes and optimize teaching models to enhance student’s global competitiveness.

“Only by cultivating a spirit of lifelong learning can we effectively lead the younger generation and equip them to become pillars of society in a technology-driven future.”

On the seminar, Lau hoped participants would engage in deep discussions, share experiences and brainstorm ideas to collectively promote the development of Chinese education and national-type Chinese secondary schools in Malaysia.

He praised the Malaysia Chinese Secondary Schools Principals’ Council for its years of selfless dedication and relentless efforts in advancing Chinese education.

“Hopefully, under the council’s continued leadership, the national-type Chinese secondary schools will continue to move forward despite challenges amidst the growing change and maintain a steady pace in the waves of globalisation and technological advancement, nurturing outstanding talents for the nation and society.”
