Ipswich sports club attempts to make positive youth impact

The Royal Bengals Sports Club was started as a cricket team to play matches weekly.

However, recently they have expanded this outlook by moving into the Murrayside Community Centre to include sports like football and badminton, in a bid to be more inclusive and create a more positive outlook.

Ipswich borough councillor Ruman Muhith, who is also the chair of the club, said: “We are primarily a cricket-focused club, but our association proudly embraces a variety of sports, including badminton, football, rugby, pool, and kabaddi.

“Through these activities, we aim to foster youth engagement, prevent gang-related activities, and build community spirit by providing a platform for local and refugee talent to thrive.

“Our diverse leadership team and dedicated members work tirelessly to secure funding through sponsorships, membership fees, and government grants, ensuring accessibility for all.”
