Ipswich Town Women stars’ delight at Ed Sheeran video

The Tractor Girls feature in a section of the video for Sheeran’s Persian-inspired single, Azizam.

The video, which was largely filmed across the United States, was viewed more than 100,000 times within a matter of hours since releasing on Friday morning.

Parts of the music video were filmed during and after Ipswich Town Women’s record-breaking match at Portman Road in front of nearly 11,000 fans against Plymouth Argyle on March 23.

This includes Town defender Maisy Barker showing Sheeran some tactical plays on a whiteboard, and a team huddle, including Sheeran, with a pink heart balloon in the middle.

Barker said: “The whole occasion of the day and to have Ed there supporting us shows the growth of this club, and how special this town and team is.

“For all of us in the group to have that experience to meet him and sing songs, of which we all grew up listening to, was a pinch-me moment for most of us.

“The fact that Ed even included us in his music video shows how much he not only supports Ipswich Town Women, but women’s football as a whole.”

Town winger Sophie Peskett added: “It was a really special day at Portman Road and we were delighted with the support we received from the whole town.

“It was very unexpected to meet Ed after the game, let alone be featured in his music video.

“It’s been great to have him support us on our journey over the past few years.”

Lucy O’Brien added: “It was really exciting to meet Ed, and having a sing with him after the game topped off a brilliant day at Portman Road.

“It was such a cool experience and a privilege to be involved in his new music video too.”

This video appearance adds to the list of highlights, achievements and experiences Ipswich Town Women players have had this season, including playing Super League side Manchester City in the FA Cup and pushing for promotion.
