Jamshedpur, Feb 28: National Science Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Jamshedpur Workers College, marking the conclusion of a week-long science festival. The event honored the remarkable contribution of Indian physicist Sir C.V. Raman and his discovery of the Raman Effect.

The celebrations began on February 22 with an awareness campaign, where students were introduced to various scientific concepts. As part of this initiative, essay and speech competitions were organized, allowing students to showcase their writing and presentation skills. The event also featured theme-based essay, poster and oral presentation competitions, designed to assess and enhance students’ communication abilities.

A key highlight of the festival was the scientific model of an alternative irrigation system, developed by students from the Physics Department. This innovative model, based on a turbo jet engine and solar energy system, aimed to promote sustainable agricultural practices and sparked immense interest among students in environmental science and technology.

On the final day of the event, Principal Dr. Satyapriya Mahalik delivered an insightful address, explaining the myths of superstition and witchcraft through the lens of science. His speech was widely appreciated for its informative and rational approach in dispelling age-old misconceptions.

Adding a creative touch to the event, students from the Geography and Chemistry departments staged a mime performance depicting the progress of science. The act, successfully directed by Professor Dr. Surabhi Sinha, captivated the audience and effectively conveyed the evolution of scientific advancements.

The event also saw active participation from Dr. Vajda and Dr. Sangeeta, Heads of the Department of Psychology, who engaged students with interactive sessions and discussions. Their contributions added depth to the program, ensuring a holistic learning experience for all attendees.

To conclude the event, IQAC Coordinator Professor Priyanka Pradhan delivered the vote of thanks, encouraging students to take part in scientific activities and contribute to global progress.

The week-long celebration not only highlighted the ideals of global science but also inspired students to work for the betterment of society.
