Jaxson Dart breaks Ole Miss records for passing yards, total offense

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jaxson Dart has made more Ole Miss football history in his final game.

The senior Rebels quarterback set the single-season Ole Miss record for total offense in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl against Duke on Thursday. Dart entered game needing 215 total yards to break Chad Kelly’s single-season record of 4,542 in 2015.

Dart also broke Kelly’s 2015 Ole Miss record of 4,042 passing yards in a season.

Both achievements were set on a 12-play, 61-yard field goal drive. It put the Rebels up 17-0 against the Blue Devils. Dart has racked up 172 passing yards and 46 rushing yards as the game winds toward halftime.

Earlier this season, Dart surpassed Ole Miss great Eli Manning in career passing yardage. Dart accomplished that feat in the Egg Bowl.

Speaking before the game, Dart said he was more concerned with securing a team accomplishment in the Gator Bowl. With a win, the Rebels would secure their first back-to-back 10-win seasons since 1959-60.
