JPMorgan Chase has appointed Kevin Brunner, a senior executive from Bank of America, as its new global chair of investment banking and mergers and acquisitions. The news was shared in an internal memo obtained by Reuters on Friday.

Brunner previously held key roles at Bank of America, where he served as chairman of global M&A and led the investment banking division for technology, media, and telecommunications.

His appointment comes as JPMorgan, the biggest U.S. bank by assets, looks to strengthen its leadership in investment banking. The move aligns with a growing wave of mergers, acquisitions, and initial public offerings as markets recover and interest rates ease.

This latest hire adds to JPMorgan’s recent push to expand its M&A operations. The bank has also brought in three senior bankers from Deutsche Bank and Goldman Sachs to boost its team working in the business services sector.
