Julia Roberts Debuted Dario Vitale’s First Pieces From Versace
Dario Vitale found the ultimate A-lister to help debut his first designs since taking over at Versace at a fitting location: Julia Roberts at the Venice Film Festival.
The Oscar winning actress stepped out today on the Lido to promote her new Luca Guadagnino film After the Hunt wearing Vitale’s first look ever since taking the reins as creative director from Donatella Versace, who departed in March.
Vitale offered up a daytime look that channels a ‘90s spirit courtesy of a tailored jacket in blue wool paired with a striped button-down and denim pans. Roberts accessorized the business casual look with a heritage gold buckle belt, woven leather Vienna 95 shoes and a top handle leather bag with a Medusa twist-lock. The handbag had a personal touch customized for Roberts with the initials JM, which is her married name — Julia Moder.

Seeing that Roberts helped Vitale set the stage for what’s to come with Versace under his guidance, it wouldn’t be a total shock to see her also step out in Versace when she hits the iconic red carpet later this evening for the After the Hunt world premiere. Either way, it should be a stylish affair as Roberts will be posing alongside her costars Ayo Edebiri, Andrew Garfield, Chloë Sevigny and Michael Stuhlbarg.

Vitale officially joined Versace on April 11, after having most recently served as design director at Miu Miu, which is owned by the Prada Group. At the time, he thanked Donatella Versace for “her trust in me,” while the outgoing icon said “Versace is in my DNA and always in my heart” as she moved on to serve as a chief brand ambassador.
