Sheridan Jets Legion Baseball/WY A-League State Tournament: At the Wyoming Legion Baseball A-League State Tournament yesterday, the Sheridan Jets came up short in their first round game vs. Cody, losing 7-4.
Sheridan will take on Wheatland today at 1pm in an elimination game.
James Timberlake will have the LIVE radio play-by-play on AM 1410 KWYO and 106.9 FM.
Meanwhile, the Lobos were up 7-nothing after 3 innings, in their game vs. Lovell and ended up losing 10-8.
As for the other first round scores from yesterday, Powell doubled up Torrington 8-4 and Riverton upset the East top seed Casper Drillers 8-5 as the west teams swept the East in the first round.
Today’s schedule of games goes like this…at 10am, it’s Torrington vs. Casper in an elimination game.
At 1pm, it’s Wheatland vs. Sheridan, in another elimination game.
At 4pm, Powell takes on Riverton and at 7pm it’s Lovell vs. Cody.
Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball: The Sheridan Troopers are preparing for the AA State Tournament which starts on Monday at Cheyenne.
The team is the #4 seed and will take on #5 seed Laramie in the first round at 9:30am.
Pitcher Avon Barney says the team has seen all the competition before, and now that every team is at this juncture of the season, it’s time to put up or shut up.
After winning the Rapid City tournament in the beginning of June, Sheridan went into a mid-season slump where they won only 6 out of 17 games.
Once July started, things turned around with a 13-2 performance.
Ty Leach says the turn-around had to start from within.
Depending on Monday’s outcome at the state tournament, the Troopers will take on either Gillette or Rock Springs in the next round.
WY Coaches Association All-Star Volleyball and Basketball Games: Tomorrow is the Wyoming Coaches Association All-Star Volleyball as well as Boys and Girls Basketball Games that will be played at Casper College.
Practice started earlier this week and it’s North vs. South in all 3 contests.
In the volleyball game, Tongue River Head Coach Kristen Masters is the Head Coach for the North team.
She says there’s limited practice time to put any kind of game plan together, but she and her coaching staff will try to figure out who gels well with who, and let the players try to have some fun on the court.
The Volleyball game starts at 1pm tomorrow.
Playing for the North team are Naomi Andersen and Kailee Holst of Sheridan, Emme Mullinax of Big Horn, McKinlee Scammon of Tongue River and Grace Finkle of Buffalo.
At 3pm it’s the girls basketball game as Paxten Aksamit of TR, as well as Buffalo Head Coach Farrah Patterson and Buffalo Assistant Head Coach Kelley Nelson, will represent North-Central Wyoming.
The Boys Basketball game is scheduled to tip off at 5pm.
Brady Engling of Buffalo will represent.
The all-star games are for recently graduated seniors only.
Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies were off yesterday and will start a 3-game series today at Baltimore.
First pitch today and tomorrow is scheduled for 5:05pm and Sunday’s game starts at 11:35am.
On Monday, the Rocks will start a 3-game series at Cleveland.

Practice starts today as the team looks to build off of last year’s run, that got them into the playoffs for the first time in 9 years.
The first pre-season game is 2 weeks from tomorrow at San Francisco.
The regular season starts on Sunday, September 7th at home vs. Tennessee.
The NFL pre-season starts next week Thursday, with the Hall of Fame Game between the LA Chargers and the Detroit Lions.
