Between January and August 2025, domestic travel searches rose by 47 per cent Pan-India compared with the same period last year, while international travel searches increased by 44 per cent .

Domestic tourism continues to drive momentum. Spiritual destinations recorded significant gains, with Chardham packages rising 73 per cent , Kedarnath 39 per cent , and Ayodhya 40 per cent . Demand for popular leisure destinations also remained strong, led by Kashmir (+78 per cent ), Kerala (+82 per cent ), Munnar (+80 per cent ), Shimla (+57 per cent ), Darjeeling (+60 per cent ), and Ooty (+51 per cent ). Among getaways, Manali saw a 53 per cent increase, followed by Goa (+27 per cent ), Mahabaleshwar (+21 per cent ), and Shirdi (+10 per cent ). Generic searches for hill stations climbed by 26 per cent , reinforcing their popularity as year-round retreats.

On the international front, short-haul destinations continue to dominate. Nepal registered a 78 per cent increase in searches, followed by Thailand at 70 per cent and Dubai at 41 per cent . Religious and cultural tourism also remained resilient, with Umrah packages seeing a 7 per cent rise.

The data reflects shifting consumer behaviour, driven by rising disposable incomes, the growing appeal of short-haul holidays, and strong interest in spiritual tourism. A slowdown in overseas study-related travel has further contributed to increased demand for domestic holidays.

A Justdial spokesperson said the company is witnessing greater use of its platform for connecting travellers with verified operators and curated packages. “We continue to see travel searches grow in double digits, led by both spiritual and leisure categories. Our platform enables users to discover reliable travel providers across India, supporting informed choices for their journeys.”

With India’s tourism sector projected to play a key role in economic growth, the rise in both domestic and international searches highlights how evolving travel preferences are reshaping demand in 2025.
