Justin Timberlake is known for taking risks and experimenting with his music style in his songs.

The former *NSYNC frontman is one to collaborate when it comes to his solo records, often teaming up with mega producers Timbaland, Pharrell Williams, and other writing partners such as Rance 1500. Larrance Dopson, who often goes by Rance 1500, opened up to The Mirror US at the Black Women in Music Dinner and spoke about what working with JT was actually like.

The songwriter shared that the singer was his “favorite” artist to work with. Rance 1500 has worked with big names such as Snoop Dogg, Kanye West, Bruno Mars, and Justin.

Rance 1500 listed the reasons why he enjoyed working with the 10x Grammy-winner. “[I like working with Justin] because he knows all the rules to break the rules,” he explained at the aforementioned dinner.

“[Justin’s] a real musician. He can speak the numbers, language, and music,” the lyricist said. While collaborating with Justin is an overall positive experience for Rance 1500, there have been times when their visions didn’t align.

However, even in those situations, he still “trusts” Justin’s input. “Music is, it’s all opinion and feeling, so you know, we, but honestly, I trust the good thing about everyone I work with, you gotta trust each other’s journey,” Rance 1500 shared.

Rance 1500 was one of the many guests who came to celebrate the wonderful Black women making waves in the music industry at the inaugural Black Women In Music Dinner earlier this week. BET’s Executive Vice President of Head of Specials, Music Programming, and Music Strategy, Connie Orlando’s self-titled organization, The Connie Orlando Foundation, launched the dinner on Tuesday, June 3.

Some of the dinner’s honorees were game changers in the entertainment industry, such as music star Ciara, celebrity stylist June Ambrose, Amazon Music head Phylicia, and Epic Records CEO Sylvia Rhine.

The Black Women in Music Dinner was dedicated to paying tribute to Black Women who are protecting and preserving the music industry.
