SEOUL, May 17 (Korea Bizwire) — The iconic world of Karl Lagerfeld, the late German designer renowned for his work with Chanel and Fendi, is coming to life in one of Seoul’s trendiest neighborhoods as CJ OnStyle opens an immersive pop-up store in Seongsu-dong, a rising hub of South Korean fashion culture.
Running from May 17 to 26, the 10-day exhibition offers a multi-sensory journey through Lagerfeld’s visionary design philosophy under the theme “Experience the Future Legacy.”
CJ OnStyle, which has held the exclusive Korean license for the Karl Lagerfeld brand since 2019, described the event as both a tribute to Lagerfeld’s enduring fanbase and a strategic step toward expanding the brand’s domestic footprint.
The pop-up, divided into four zones—Welcome, Archive, Exhibition, and Product—melds Lagerfeld’s minimalist black-and-white aesthetics with futuristic metallic tones. Visitors are greeted by his signature silhouette—slicked-back white hair, sunglasses, and high-collared shirt—alongside his oft-quoted mantra: “Embrace the present and invent the future.”
In the Archive Zone, attendees can view sketches and atelier artifacts reflecting his design ethos, including the full-size outfit worn by Lagerfeld’s famously pampered cat, Choupette, at the 2023 Met Gala.
The Exhibition Zone features a dramatic centerpiece: the Shirt Collar Tree, a sculptural homage to Lagerfeld’s iconic collar, symbolizing a harmony of tradition and modernity, East and West.
The Product Zone showcases the Spring/Summer 2025 collection, making its Korean debut. Visitors can try on garments and purchase them instantly via QR codes linked to the CJ OnStyle mobile app.

“This pop-up bridges Lagerfeld’s loyal global following with new audiences,” said Pier Paolo Righi, CEO of Karl Lagerfeld. “We’re excited to present our future direction in Korea, a key market for the brand.”
Kim Hoon, the Seoul-born creative director of the brand, emphasized the city’s dual spirit of innovation and heritage. “Seoul constantly inspires me as a designer. Through this Seongsu pop-up, I hope to connect more deeply with Korean customers and share our evolving vision.”
Kim, who joined the Lagerfeld label in 2015 after working with brands like Abercrombie & Fitch, Urban Outfitters, and Ralph Lauren, is widely recognized for elevating the global stature of Korean designers.
CJ OnStyle is also expanding its premium fashion portfolio through exclusive partnerships with brands such as Barneys New York, Daniel Cremieux, and Eddie Bauer. “We aim to cement CJ OnStyle’s reputation as the destination for premium and differentiated fashion,” the company stated.
