French luxury group Kering has named Francesca Bellettini as the new chief executive of its flagship Gucci brand, replacing Stefano Cantino after just nine months in the role. The move marks the first significant management reshuffle under recently appointed group CEO Luca de Meo.

Bellettini began her career in banking before moving into fashion and rising through Kering’s portfolio. Since 2023, she has served as one of the group’s two deputy chief executives, overseeing key houses including Saint Laurent, Balenciaga and Bottega Veneta.

Kering confirmed that Jean-Marc Duplaix would remain as the company’s chief operating officer. Both Bellettini’s and Duplaix’s former deputy CEO roles will be abolished as part of de Meo’s new organisational structure.

Bellettini’s appointment comes at a critical time for Gucci, which has faced double-digit sales declines in recent years following a strong run of pre-pandemic growth. Her move to the brand signals Kering’s intent to restore momentum at what remains its most high-profile label.

Analysts have long pressed for clearer lines of responsibility within Kering’s senior leadership, and the latest changes provide greater visibility on executive functions under de Meo’s strategy to revive the group’s performance.
