KGF’s Srinidhi Shetty on the 3-year break between HIT 3 and her last film

In 2016, shortly after she was adjudged Miss Supranational and was then signed up for her first Kannada film, KGF: Chapter 1, Srinidhi Shetty had decided not to do any other film until her debut project comes out. KGF-1 released in December 2018, after which she was committed to the second part too, but also took up a film with Chiyaan Vikram, Cobra .

Srinidhi Shetty: Did not want to regret choices

By August of 2022, all her films were in theatre and it is only now, in May 2025 that she’s got another release. The nearly 3-year break was not intentional, she says, adding, “From the offers that came my way, I wasn’t impressed by any. I did not feel that I should be a part of the film, that world or story. If I had taken up these films for the sake of having work constantly and then ended up with regrets – that’s not something I wanted.”

The actress also says that her family pointed out that she was ‘doing nothing’, and not taking up offers that came to me. “It would have been an easy step to accept everything that came along, to stay relevant in the market. But I felt that if I take up some work, I should be truly invested in it and find happiness in it. Whether or not it does well in theatres is secondary. One such project that I did like was a Telugu film called Telusu Kada, which was meant to be my debut in that industry. I really liked the story and the character,” says Srinidhi, addressing the media during the HIT 3 promotions in Bengaluru.

While doing Telusu Kada, she got the offer for HIT 3. “I did not waste time intentionally. I have chosen to be in cinema and wish to be on a film set every day, do good work and have great new experiences. Given a choice, I will be on set all 365 days of the year,” she says. Meanwhile, in HIT 3, Srinidhi plays Eega star Nani’s character Arjun Sarkaar’s love interest Mrudula, who, she says, is the one bringing calm to his otherwise tumultuous life.
