Kiccha Sudeep to return as host? Fans urge him to focus on films

In the last few days, the major discussion on social media has revolved around Kannada superstar Kiccha Sudeep and it was not about his current film, Billa Ranga Baashaa. The online conversation was about whether or not Sudeep would return to host Bigg Boss Kannada, which he had done for 11 years and then quit. He had been given an emotional farewell as well. Social media is abuzz with comments that Sudeep will return after all, but that he has given the showrunners a set of terms and conditions to abide by to make his ‘comeback’ happen.

One of the primary concerns that Sudeep is said to have addressed is in the choice of contestants. In the last few years, the showrunners have included contestants who were controversial, or had viral social media content and followings for all the wrong reasons. During Bigg Boss Kannada launch press meets, Sudeep was often asked about the deteriorating ‘quality’ of contestants, and, as the host of the show, he had always defended the showrunners and stated that there was no need to be judgemental about the participants.

However, increasingly unruly behaviour was getting on Sudeep’s nerves as well, which is why he has insisted on a better selection process. The actor is also said to have told the channel heads that the tasks in the Bigg Boss house cannot be designed to create conflicts and controversies. He has asked them to look at providing entertainment for viewers and not just sensationalism. Considering that Bigg Boss Kannada 12 is expected to start in September or October, he has also told them to be mindful of his filming schedules while planning his weekend episode shoots.

Last year, a couple of days before his birthday, Sudeep had addressed the media and spoken at length about how taxing it was for him shuttling between the set of Max and the Bigg Boss house. This was physically and emotionally draining, he had said and added that he had also felt that the efforts he was taking to make himself available were not appreciated enough.

Sudeep is currently working on Billa Ranga Baashaa and is said to have greenlit at least 2 other projects. Fans have, for the longest time, been urging him to disassociate himself from Bigg Boss Kannada, stating that the show was not what it used to be under the guidance of Parameshwar Gundkal. Given that Sudeep was not seen onscreen for more than 2 years after Vikrant Rona, they wanted him to focus on more film work. In fact, during the promotions of Max, Sudeep had said that he was giving up on his one film at a time work style to accommodate at least 2 simultaneously.
