King Bulelani invests in youth education

NDEBELE King Bulelani Khumalo has called on citizens, particularly the youth, to prioritise education as a cornerstone of personal and communal advancement.
His spokesperson, Bornwell Khumalo, delivered the message during the Maqhawentaba Awards ceremony in Johannesburg, South Africa, emphasising perseverance and long-term investment in knowledge.
“Let us not be discouraged by today’s challenges. Even when the path seems difficult, education is the light that will guide our future,” said King Bulelani, urging youth to “invest in degrees and skills today for a brighter tomorrow”.
His office has already taken concrete steps, funding school fees for four children and providing uniforms for five others this year, with plans to expand support to six more students in 2026.
The king highlighted disparities in access to education during visits to local schools like Hope Fountain Combined School, where he witnessed first-hand the struggles families face in ensuring their children attend school.
“Education is not just a personal tool — it’s the foundation of our nation’s revival,” he added.
Beyond academics, King Bulelani linked education to cultural preservation, encouraging attendance at the expanded King Mzilikazi Commemoration on September 5 and 6 at Mhlahlandlela.
The event, featuring traditional food, poetry and historical storytelling, aims to strengthen Ndebele identity while fostering communal solidarity.
“Honouring our past empowers us to shape the future,” he noted, framing the gathering as both a cultural celebration and a platform for mentorship across
generations.
The monarch’s address also touched on broader developmental projects, including biogas and solar-powered water initiatives, underscoring his vision of combining modern innovation with traditional values.
