Korean musical ‘Maybe Happy Ending’ sweeps Drama Desk Awards with 6 trophies
The musical, which follows the unlikely love story of two robots in the near future, took home six awards at Sunday’s ceremony, a week out from the Tonys

“Maybe Happy Ending,” a South Korean original musical that made its Broadway debut in 2024, swept the 2025 Drama Desk Awards, winning in a whopping six categories.
The musical ended up being the most-awarded production of the 69th Drama Desk Awards, which was held in New York on Sunday (local time), winning the categories of outstanding musical, outstanding direction of a musical, outstanding music, outstanding lyrics, outstanding book of a musical and outstanding scenic design of a musical.
The Drama Desk Awards are a ceremony celebrating excellence in theater that the Drama Desk organization, composed of theater critics, creators and publishers, has been holding since 1955.
“Maybe Happy Ending” is an original musical set in the not-so-distant future that follows the journey of Oliver and Claire, two helper bots who were created to aid and assist people, but find themselves falling in love. The original South Korean production was held in 2016, with the Broadway production of the musical opening at Manhattan’s Belasco Theatre in November 2024. The musical has also been nominated in 10 categories, including best musical, best direction of a musical, best book, best original score and more, for the 2025 Tony Awards, which will be held on Sunday, June 8.
