KP govt allocates Rs11.6b for Sport & Youth Affairs Department
Peshawar – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has allocated Rs11.6 billion to the Sports and Youth Affairs Department for the fiscal year 2025–26, marking a 30 percent increase from the previous year’s allocation of Rs8.9 billion.
To empower youth and enable them to become self-reliant, the government has earmarked Rs1.5 billion for the flagship Ehsaas Nojawan Programme in the annual budget. Additionally, Rs800 million have been allocated for organizing sports activities and promoting talented athletes across the province.
Similarly, Rs. 316.8 million have been set aside for the establishment of futsal grounds, while Rs11 million have been allocated for the development, standardization, and upgradation of sports facilities throughout the province. The budget document further states that Rs315 million have been earmarked for the Youth Development Package.
Among the key new initiatives is the establishment of a multi-purpose, international-standard indoor gymnasium in District Buner to provide modern sports and fitness facilities for youth. Additionally, a project has been proposed to establish indoor sports facilities for women at all divisional headquarters across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The inclusion of the sports and youth sector among the government’s top priorities reflects the commitment of the provincial administration under the leadership of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, and the dedicated efforts of the Provincial Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Syed Fakhar Jihan. The significant budgetary allocations underscore the government’s resolve to advance this vital sector.
Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has declared the industrial sector a key driver of economic growth and has allocated substantial funds for its development in the upcoming fiscal year 2025–26.
According to the budget figures, the total budget for the Industries, Commerce, and Technical Education Department last year stood at Rs1.70 billion. This has now been increased by 58 percent, reaching Rs2.70 billion for the next financial year.
To empower youth and enhance their skills, Rs600 million have been earmarked for the Ehsaas Hunar Programme under the youth capacity-building initiative.
Promoting industrialization and investment remains a top priority for the government. In this regard, Rs200 million have been allocated for various expenses, including security infrastructure and operational needs of the Rashakai Special Economic Zone.
Furthermore, to boost industrial and commercial activity in the Bannu Economic Zone, the construction of a 132 KV grid station has been approved to ensure an uninterrupted electricity supply.
This development-oriented agenda is being spearheaded under the leadership of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and is the result of tireless efforts by the Special Assistant for Industries, Abdul Karim Tordher. The overarching goal is to ensure sustainable development across the province.
