KTM 390 Adventure R India launch likely — But here’s the catch – Bike News
KTM is considering the launch of the more capable 390 Adventure R in India if demand exists.
KTM launched the new 390 Adventure range in India a few days ago, which consists of the 390 Adventure X and the more off-road-focused 390 Adventure. However, the international markets get one more version, the 390 Adventure R, which India misses out on. This is the actual off-road-focused version. While this is a bummer, Bajaj may have some good news.
KTM 390 Adventure R: Made to order
Bajaj says that if there’s enough interest for the 390 Adventure R, the motorcycle could likely be brought to India. For that, the company could likely track the interest through showroom footfalls, social media engagement, and YouTube comments. The 390 Adventure R could also be made to order, as the motorcycle is built in India and not abroad. If that’s the case, a made-to-order approach will make sense, as there is a set of interested people wanting more out of the 39 Adventure, but it is small compared to the takers of the 390 Adventure and Adventure X.
KTM 390 Adventure R: How different is it from the 390 Adventure
The 390 Adventure R uses the same platform and engine as the 390 Adventure, however, its suspension travel is longer than the 390 Adventure, giving it more clearance. The result is also a taller seat height of 870mm compared to the 390 Adventure’s 830mm. The motorcycle will share the same set of electronics and braking hardware as well, however, it runs on Mitas Enduro Trail tyres.
Yes, it will be more expensive than the current 390 Adventure, but it will be a more capable motorcycle as well. That said, KTM would not want to lose its position on the top of the sub-500cc adventure motorcycle segment to BMW, which will soon launch the F 450 GS in India.
