Lapeer Athletic Boosters to host annual Field Day on Aug. 9

From football and soccer dribbling drills to cheerleading stations and batting practice, activities during Field Day on Aug. 9 are designed to be inclusive and engaging for kids of all ages.

LAPEER — The Lapeer Athletic Boosters, in partnership with Little Learners, are excited to announce the return of their annual Field Day event. Now in its fifth year, this family-friendly celebration will take place Friday, Aug. 9, from 1-3 p.m., and is open to the public and free of charge.

Field Day has become a summer tradition in the Lapeer community, offering a unique opportunity for families to engage with local athletic programs while enjoying an afternoon of fun and fitness. The event is designed to spotlight the wide range of sports offered through Lapeer Community Schools, with hands-on activities, interactive demonstrations, and opportunities to meet coaches and studentathletes.

The day’s festivities will kick off with a spirited community run known as the Bolt Run, hosted by the Lapeer High School Cross Country team. Participants of all ages are invited to lace up their sneakers and join the team on a scenic run from Lapeer High School to the Center for Innovation (CFI). The run begins promptly at noon, symbolically carrying Zeus’s Bolt to its final destination.

Once Zeus is ceremonially returned his Bolt at CFI, the Field Day officially begins at 1 p.m. The event will take place outdoors, centered around the Fitzpatrick Field at CFI, and will feature a variety of stations and games led by different athletic teams and community partners.

From football and soccer dribbling drills to cheerleading stations and batting practice, the activities are designed to be inclusive and engaging for kids of all ages. Parents will have a chance to speak with program representatives about fall sign-ups and learn more about Lapeer’s commitment to student athletics and wellness.

“This event is all about bringing the community together and giving families a chance to see what Lapeer athletics is all about,” said Matt Voss of the Lapeer Athletic Boosters. “We want every child to feel welcome to try something new and find a place to belong, whether that’s on a field, a court, or a mat.”

Little Learners, a local early childhood education provider, has once again joined the Boosters as a proud partner, helping to ensure the event remains accessible and enjoyable for even the youngest members of the community.

With a focus on community spirit, physical activity, and fun, the 5th Annual Field Day promises to be a highlight of the summer for Lapeer families. Organizers recommend arriving early for the Bolt Run or just in time for Field Day kickoff at 1 p.m.
