Leadership shift occurs at NT Power as utility eyes sale or merger
Kelly McCann has been named interim CEO at the Newmarket utility, as previous interim CEO Stuart Smith departs for a new role at London Hydro
Kelly McCann has been named by the board or directors the interim CEO of NT Power, following the departure of interim CEO Stuart Smith.
The leadership change comes at a pivotal time, as NT Power’s shareholders are considering a potential merger with or acquisition by Alectra Utilities Inc.
Smith is leaving to be chief information officer at London Hydro, a role he previously held at time NT Power.
His time at NT Power “was marked by strong leadership and strategic insight. He was key in driving operational improvements and advancing the company’s technology. NT Power expresses its gratitude for Stuart’s dedication and wishes him every success in his new position at London Hydro,” an NT Power news release stated.
McCann, formerly NT Power’s vice-president of customer and employee experience, brings significant expertise and a thorough knowledge of the energy sector and the company’s operations, the release stated.
“Her leadership track record and commitment to the organization’s vision prepare her to guide the team through this transition. The Board is confident she will foster both stability and progress.”
“Our organization has been fortunate to benefit from Stuart Smith’s steady leadership and vision over the years,” said Dave Charleson, chair of the NT Power board. “As we begin this new chapter, we are equally confident in Kelly McCann’s ability to lead NT Power. Her experience will serve us well as we navigate change and growth.”
