Letter: Civic Music concerts provide a positive experience for all

The Albert Lea area is so fortunate to have the Albert Lea Civic Music Association once again sponsoring five amazing concerts for our community. This group has been responsible for bringing in internationally known talent to our area and exposing many to quality music performances for 79 years. I remember coming as a child and seeing my very first live orchestra. It made a huge impact on me. Over the years, the acts and artists have changed a bit, but no matter what the genre, the quality is very high! Albert Lea Civic Music also sponsors scholarships for young musicians to take private music lessons and attend music camps.
I encourage folks to support this organization by buying a season ticket and coming to see the concerts. All professional artists recognize that audiences need to hear some familiar tunes while also providing new experiences. This year’s program includes singer guitar player, Tom Glynn, performing American tunes from the 1970s; the Mexican Brass, a five-member virtuosic group playing everything from opera tunes to pop music; Celtic music with Katie McMahon on her harp; and completing the show with dancers MusiKaravan with a diverse and fun program for two violins and cello, and Cece Teneal who is an award-winning vocalist, singing all the hits from the divas of soul music. With a season ticket you can also attend four concerts in Clear Lake with different artists. It is the best deal around! Individual concert tickets are available at $30 each the day of the concerts if the season is not an option for you.
The organization relies on ticket sales and contributions. We need families, seniors, empty-nesters, students and singles to support this organization. Music builds brains in young people and provides a happy, positive experience for all who attend. Do not delay to mail in your ticket flyer or purchase a ticket at Hy-Vee, Arcadian Bank, the Chamber Office or online at www.AlbertLeaCivicMusic.com Adult tickets are $50, family tickets $105 and students $15. The first concert is Sept. 7 at 3 p.m. at Albert Lea High School. Let’s fill the auditorium!
