In a post on the official Japanese Nintendo Twitter/X account, Shigeru Miyamoto has announced that the casting for the two main roles for The Legend of Zelda movie has been completed. Princess Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason, and Link will be played by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth.

Ainsworth is currently in his teens, while Bragason is in her early 20s. This could hint at The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time being the story adapted into a movie, as it features a younger version of Link. This could lead to a sequel movie a few years down the line, once he’s visibly aged more.

Benjamin Evan Ainsworth has appeared in TV shows like the British soap opera Emmerdale, as well as The Sandman. In terms of movies, he was the voice of Pinocchio in the 2022 adaptation of the classic story.

Bo Bragarson is no stranger to the world of gaming, providing the voice of a young Lunafreya in Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV. She also appeared in The Radleys and Censor.

Both actors are relatively small names, but if The Legend of Zelda movie is a hit, then it could propel the two of them to mainstream success. It’s going to be a while before anyone will get to see them on the big screen, as The Legend of Zelda movie is set to launch on May 7, 2027.
