Livingston Schools Earn ‘Best Music Education’ Award For 9th-Straight Year

LIVINGSTON, NJ — The Livingston Public School District has earned a nod as a “Best Community for Music Education” for the ninth-straight year.

Livingston was recently honored with a Best Communities for Music Education designation from the NAMM Foundation. The award recognizes districts that demonstrate “outstanding achievement for providing music access and education to all students.”

To qualify, district must answer detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program and community music-making programs. Responses are verified by school officials and reviewed by educational research firm WolfBrown.

“Being named a Best Community for Music Education from the NAMM Foundation celebrates Livingston Public Schools’ commitment to music education, and the dedication of Livingston’s music teachers, administrators, students, parents, board of education, and community members to a comprehensive K-12 music education for all students,” said Mara Rubin, the district’s supervisor of visual and performing arts.

“We are very proud to receive this award, as it reaffirms our convictions that a strong music program goes hand in hand with a successful school district,” Rubin added. “Receiving the Best Communities for Music Education Award validates our music teachers’ talents and passion, as well as the hard work of our students and the commitment of our community to music in our schools.”
