Madonna Wanted to “Mud Wrestle” With Model Miranda Kerr in Miley Cyrus’ Music Video
Miley Cyrus just dropped her newest album and film, Something Beautiful, and has been promoting it heavily. One noteworthy appearance on the Every Single Album podcast involved some pretty interesting revelations from Cyrus about her Bangerz era. According to Cyrus, she had quite a pool of talent on board to be part of the music video for her 2013 song “4×4”. And Madonna was down for just about anything, it seems.
Fans might notice that there isn’t actually a music video for that particular song. That’s because Cyrus’ label at the time, RCA, ended up scrapping the whole thing.
“I had everyone already lined up,” Cyrus said in the interview on June 6. “Nelly… Madonna was down to do the video, Miranda Cosgrove… This was before Taylor [Swift] had a lot of famous people in her crew. I was friends with famous people first. I wanted to do that. I had a f***ing squad, and my squad was very, very cool.”
Miranda Cosgrove, Madonna, Nelly, and Miranda Kerr Were All Down To Be in the Star-Studded Music Video That Never Happened
According to Cyrus, “Madonna was down to mud wrestle with Miranda Kerr” in the music video for “4×4”. Cyrus went on to note that she had a very clear vision for the music video, too, and it would have been absolutely insane.
“I was like, ‘I’m gonna get all these girls, all these supermodels, all these Victoria’s Secret models and all of these pop icons to come to my dad’s farm, get in the back of 4x4s, and we’re gonna mud wrestle, and we’re gonna go out and do doughnuts,’” said Cyrus.
That would have been a wild ride. Unfortunately, though, the music video never happened. A couple of other singles from Bangerz, notably “We Can’t Stop” and “Wrecking Ball”, boasted music videos that went viral. The latter ended up winning Video of the Year at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards. Cyrus enjoyed quite a bit of success from the album and subsequent music video, but I can’t help but wonder what that “4×4” would have been like. It would have been a pop culture masterpiece, I’m sure.
